February 21, 2018

Every time you take a bite of your favourite decorated chocolate at a cafe located in Preston, a lot of things go on your mind. You have always been told about the risk factors that come with eating chocolates like the cavity, weight gain, and so on. But, recently researchers have found that chocolates have some health benefits too about which the humankind have been unaware till now.

Take a look at the health benefits that you can have with the consumption of decorated dark chocolate.

Keeps your heart well

Chocolates contain a flavonoid known as flavanols. Research has shown that consumption of flavanols containing dark chocolate improved the flow of blood and reduced blood pressure. Flavanols also make the blood thin which in turn reduces the risk of stroke and also blood clots.

Improves the mood

Decorated dark chocolate contains a chemical called tryptophan. It is an important amino acid which stimulates the production of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is the natural antidepressant of the brain which helps in elevating one’s mood and produces happy feelings. According to experts, the consumption of chocolates induces the same kind of feelings one experiences when they fall in love. Therefore, having a decorated chocolate at a cafe in Preston would be a great affair.

Good for the brain

The flavanols present in the dark chocolate have shown to improve cognitive functions. Several researchers have shown that the consumption of chocolate in the right amount actually improved the cognitive function of the brain.

Makes the skin better

In a study, it was seen that women who consumed chocolates with a high quantity of flavanols, had less damaged skin. These women could withstand the effect of UV light more compared to women who did not consume chocolate.

Improves cholesterol levels

Cocoa butter in dark chocolate contains stearic, palmitic and oleic acid. Studies have shown that stearic acids keep the cholesterol levels neutral. Further research shows that daily consumption of dark chocolate for just a week resulted in better lipid profiles. In addition to this, it was also seen that there was decreased platelet reactivity in both women and men.

It calms a cough

Theobromine, a chemical found in dark chocolate, have shown to suppress coughs. It does so by acting on the nerve called the vagus nerve. Studies are being conducted to use this instead of codeine in cough syrups.

Helps in improving memory

Studies conducted on elderly people showed that consumption of the right amount of dark chocolate extract, rich in flavanols, showed improvement in the memory.

Helps in maintaining blood pressure

Several studies conducted have shown that taking the right amount of decorated chocolate can lower the blood pressure. Moreover, it can also reduce and maintain the blood sugar level. In case of blood sugar, the darker the chocolate, the better it is.

One very important thing that should be kept in mind is that all these benefits can only be gained if the right amount of chocolate is taken. Also, having the right type of decorated chocolate is necessary. Therefore, consume it in the proper way from a traditional cafe in Preston to reap all the benefits.
